Giclees on Paper

Giclees (pronounced zhee-clay) is a French term for "spray of ink." It is a very technical process to explain. In simple terms, a special iris printer is used to produce incredibly vibrant images, with the ultimate color saturation as there are more dots per inch.

The paper used to print the giclees is very dense unlike the paper used for most prints. One sheet is printed at a time, and can take over one hour to complete.

In the case of a giclee print with signatures, the giclee is a copy of the original, signed painting. Therefore, the signatures are on the original painting and they are copied to the giclee. Roy Grinnell's signature is an original signature on the giclee.
